This would have been a remarkable cat-and-mouse chase if the female lead had been anyone else, literally anyone else. The way she portrays the detective makes the viewer, at least this one, not want to root for her.
She presents herself as a cold, self-centered, know-it-all woman
Yes, she’s with the police, and what she does is right, but how she does it is appalling! I don’t like her, nor do I care about her. Because of that, I feel like a lot of us who watch the show will root for the Jackal.
